Who is it for?
Are you between 12 and 17 years old? You don’t need any supporting document: you will automatically benefit from the school season ticket for only € 12 a year.
Are you between 18 and 24 years old?

Are you an official resident in Brussels? The STIB-MIVB 18-24 Brussels season ticket is your go-to! No school certificate needed: travel anywhere in Brussels for € 12 a year, even if you’re no longer a student.

The STIB-MIVB school season ticket
Do you only travel with STIB-MIVB? The STIB-MIVB school season ticket for only € 12 a year is the perfect solution!
The STIB-MIVB school season ticket is valid for 12 months on the entire STIB-MIVB network (bus, tram, metro), except from Brussels Airport with line 12.
How much does a STIB-MIVB school season ticket cost?
The fares for one year:
- First purchase: € 12
- Second purchase: € 12
- Third purchase and more within the same household: € 0
You do not own a personal MOBIB card?
- Go to one of our 5 BOOTIK
- Ask for a STIB-MIVB school season ticket
- Present your eID. If you’re older than 18, you are also required to provide a school certificate (paper version only). You don’t have an eID? Take another identity document and an ID photo
- Pay € 6,00 for your MOBIB card and the price of your school season ticket
It is also possible to buy your MOBIB card online.
Important: your personal MOBIB card has a validity period of maximum 5 years. After this validity period has expired, you will have to purchase a new card at € 6,00.
You already own a MOBIB card and you are aged 12 to 17?
Go to one of our GO vending machines. Place your personal MOBIB card on the reader, select the season ticket and pay.
You can also renew your school season ticket on Go Easy, our online purchase platform, or in other STIB-MIVB sales outlets.
You already own a MOBIB card and you are aged 18 to 24?
Load your school certificate on school.stib-mivb.be. Wait for the confirmation email and go to one of our GO vending machines or online to purchase your season ticket.
You can also directly go to a KIOSK or BOOTIK with your original school certificate.
The Brupass school season ticket
Do you also take the train or the buses of TEC and De Lijn within Brussels? Go al-in with the Brupass school season ticket for € 56 a year!
The Brupass school season ticket is valid for 12 months on the entire STIB-MIVB network (bus, tram, metro), except from Brussels Airport with line 12. You can also use it to travel on the networks of TEC, De Lijn and SNCB-NMBS within the Brupass zone.
How much does a Brupass school season ticket cost?
The fares for one year:
- First purchase: € 56
- Second purchase: € 56
- Third purchase and more within the same household: € 44
You do not own a personal MOBIB card?
- Go to one of our 5 BOOTIK.
- Ask for a Brupass school season ticket
- Present your eID. If you’re older than 18, you are also required to provide a school certificate (paper version only). You don’t have an eID? Take another identity document and an ID photo
- Pay € 6,00 for your MOBIB card and the price of your school season ticket
It is also possible to buy your MOBIB card online.

Reduced fare as from the 3rd purchase
What fare?
As of the 3rd school or 18-24 Brussels season ticket in your household, you only pay € 0 for a STIB-MIVB school/18-24 Brussels or € 40 for a Brupass school season ticket. You can perfectly combine the school season tickets and the 18-24 Brussels tickets to benefit from this discount.
How to get the reduced fare?
You or one of your siblings benefit from a school or 18-24 Brussels season ticket for the first time, in such a way that you get to 3 purchases in the same year?
- Update your profile: fill in the form on school.stib-mivb.be or go to a BOOTIK in one of our metro stations.
- All the season tickets must start during the same tariff period (between 1 February and 31 January of the following year)
- The reduced fare depends on the chronological order of purchase. This means it is not necessarily applied on the youngest child’s ticket.
Example: There’s three of you: 11, 12 and 19 years old. Your 12-year-old brother has a STIB-MIVB school season ticket. You are 19 years old and have a MIVB-STIB 18-24 Brussels season ticket. When your youngest sister will be 12 years old, she gets a discount on the third season ticket you buy or renew in the same year.
Frequently asked questions
You are a student in another EU country?
You too are entitled to a school season ticket until you turn 25, whether you are in Brussels for an Erasmus, an internship or a leisure stay. Present in that case an original school certificate delivered by a EU educational institution. This certificate must be dated with the current school year.
You already own a MOBIB card for your STIB-MIVB -12 years season ticket?
No problem! If your MOBIB card is not older than 5 years, you do not even have to replace it. To load the school season ticket on your MOBIB card, go to a GO vending machine, a or use on our online purchase platform, GO Easy.
You own a MOBIB card from another public transport operator?
Again: no problem! If the electronic TEC, De Lijn or SNCB-NMBS card is not older than 5 years, keep it and simply load it with the season ticket of your choice.
To do so:
- Either purchase your season ticket in a BOOTIK or KIOSK: the transport ticket will be loaded directly on your card
- Or purchase your school season ticket online: your card must be registered in the STIB-MIVB system, which you can simply do by placing it on the reader of a GO vending machine
